Textile and Leather Sector
September 18, 2020
University of Zagreb Faculty of Textile Technology
The 13th International scientific-professional Symposium “Textile Science and Economy”, which was postponed due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, will be held on September 18, 2020, organized by the University of Zagreb Faculty of Textile Technology. The co-organizer of the conference is the College of Textile and Clothing Engineering, Soochow University of China, and the partner in the preparation of the conference is the Confucius Institute of the University of Zagreb.
Given the unfavourable and uncertain epidemiological situation in many countries around the world, including the Republic of Croatia, the Symposium will be held as a video conference. In this sense, the Symposium will be realized through virtual rooms, within which lectures will be given by respected scientists from the international academic community and the Republic of Croatia, as well as respected experts and representatives of the economic Textile and Leather sector.
The time in which we have almost immediately begun to live in a new, adapted way of life and work will surely remain historically recorded as a period in which scientific research has gained more importance than ever before and in which the whole world supports the scientific community in anticipation of vaccine development results or a cure for a disease that has afflicted all of humanity. And until a drug or vaccine is found and made available globally, the most important protection for each individual will be a protective mask made from textile materials. This small textile product, which for many years was intended mainly for medical professionals, has become a necessary protection for every individual around the world. Scientists in the field of textile technology from all over the world have faced new challenges, precisely in the development of new protective materials, equipment and clothing, which will provide the necessary protection primarily for medical professionals, but also for each individual.
The Symposium in this sense aims to acquaint the participants of the conference with current research directions in the field of innovative textile materials, digital technologies and research innovations in the field of textile technology. Also, the challenges facing businessmen from the Textile and Leather sector due to the global pandemic will be articulated. Participants will also be able to get acquainted with the possibilities of cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the People’s Republic of China in the field of higher education for the needs of the Textile and Leather sector, but also beyond, given the representation of textiles in other industries.
The consultation is also an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between educational and research resources of the Faculty and related (vocational) educational institutions with the textile and leather industry sector and other participants who contribute to the development, competence and competitiveness of the Sector. The topic of the Symposium “Innovation, Design and Digitalization in the Textile and Leather Sector” opens the possibility of presenting the latest scientific and technological achievements, potential for their commercialization and development trends through an interdisciplinary approach, as guidelines for future development of the Textile and Leather sector.
On behalf of the Symposium organizers, we are honoured to invite all interested companies, research institutions and organizations from the Republic of Croatia, the wider region and the international community to actively participate in the presentation of research results or business results and exchange ideas and experiences with TSE 2020 conference participants.
Scientific and professional contribution to the conference of individual authors or groups of authors will be achieved by publishing scientific, review and / or professional work which will be published in full in the Conference Proceedings.
We look forward to your active participation in the implementation of the Symposium!
President of the Organizing Committee of TSE 2020,
